KUTRRH Introduces Low-Dose Radioiodine (I-131) Therapy for Hyperthyroidism

KUTRRH has introduced Low-Dose Radioiodine (I-131) Therapy for the treatment of benign thyroid conditions that cause hyperthyroidism.

This internationally established treatment uses a small, carefully controlled dose of radioactive iodine to target and reduce overactive thyroid tissue without the need for surgery.

Low-dose radioiodine therapy is commonly used to treat:

  • Graves’ Disease

  • Toxic Multinodular Goiter

  • Toxic Thyroid Adenoma

The procedure is safe, effective, and minimally invasive, and is administered by specialists in Nuclear Medicine following strict radiation safety protocols.

Patients are provided with clear post-treatment instructions to ensure radiation safety for family members and the public.

This service reflects KUTRRH’s commitment to expanding nuclear medicine services for patients in Kenya and across the region.

Patients can be referred to the Nuclear Medicine Department at KUTRRH for consultation and treatment planning.
